During its October 9 session, the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate elected Archimandrite Maximos Pafilis as the vicar bishop of Metropolitan Emmanuel of France, with the title of Melitene. The elected bishop is part of the diocese of Rethymno and Avlopotamos (Crete), and is now seconded to the service of the metropolitan diocese of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in France.
