Georgian Orthodox Church Privileges ruled as Unconstitutional

Following two lawsuits with religious organizations, the Georgian Orthodox Church privileges related to tax and state property have been ruled as unconstitutional by The Constitutional Court of Georgia, The VAT exemption for construction, restoration and painting of churches, and the free-of-charge transfer of the state-owned property to the Orthodox Church, were accepted by the Parliament of Georgia as signs of recognition for “the outstanding role” of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
