The Patriarchate of Jerusalem is in favor of achieving the unity of the Orthodox Church in the Ukraine “through peaceful and legal methods”. The decision of the Patriarchate of Constantinople concerning the situation of the Church in the Ukraine must be made in full coordination with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia.
That is what said Archbishop Theodosios (Atallah Hanna) of Sebastia (Jerusalem Patriarchate). “The schism in the Ukraine is very regrettable, and I hope that the Patriarch of Constantinople and the other primates of the Orthodox Churches will coordinate with the Russian Orthodox Church, in order to foster initiatives aimed at putting an end to of this situation, which is unhealthy, unacceptable, and unjustified,” said the hierarch. “Any decision by the Church of Constantinople on the situation of the Church in the Ukraine must be made in full coordination with Patriarch Kirill, the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, and his Holy Synod,” he added.
Archbishop Theodosios mentioned that in Jerusalem, they “pray for peace in the Ukraine and in the Ukrainian Church,” and they stand for the realization of the unity of the Orthodox Church in this country, “through peaceful and legal methods “.
