Christ is risen!
Your Reverend Eminences, venerable fathers, dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, children of the Orthodox Church in Western Europe, I send you my congratulations for the great feast of the Holy Pascha of the Lord, the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead!
In the Resurrection of Christ, all the prophecies of the Bible about victory over death are fulfilled. In the Resurrection of Christ, the conviction that dwells in the deepest heart of each person that they are eternal, finds its justification. In the Resurrection of Christ, our thirst for eternity is quenched. In the Resurrection of Christ, our longing to conquer death, which encourages us to surpass ourselves, finds an immutable meaning.
The Church has always told her children the good news of the Resurrection of Christ. Our Lord Jesus Christ is risen in His flesh. We too will rise in our flesh. The risen body of Christ knew no more barrier. Our body also will be glorified in the Spirit. The Lord has established His reign over the world. We too are awaiting Heavenly Glory.
The Resurrection of Christ is inextricably linked to His Second Coming. “Your death, our Lord, we commemorate, Your resurrection we confess, and Your second coming we wait for”, it says in the Liturgy of the Apostle James. In our waiting for the coming of the Lord and the resurrection of all, we are all called to preach the Gospel, so that everywhere, to the ends of the earth, the good news may be heard, that death is no more.
Your Reverend Eminences, venerable fathers, dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, children of the Orthodox Church in Western Europe! I send you my congratulations for this great endless day of the Holy Pascha of the Lord. Our Lord Jesus Christ is risen from the dead, “the bright and morning Star” (Revelation 22:16). May He be with you in this paschal time, every day of our lives, and until the end of the ages.
