At its August 29 session, the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate added Elder Amphilochios (Makris) of Patmos to the list of saints. Elder Amphilochios (1889-1970) was a monk and then the abbot at the Saint John the Theologian Monastery (island of Patmos). Besides, he founded monasteries for nuns as well as an orphanage.
