The Divine Liturgy was concelebrated by Archbishop Leo of Helsinki and all Finland, Metropolitan Arsenios of Kuopio and Karelia, Metropolitan Elijah of Oulu, Metropolitan Innocentios of Burundi and Rwanda (Alexandria Patriarchate), as well as Bishop Panteleimon, the former metropolitan of Oulu, and the clergy of the monastery, and Father Mattias Palli, representing the Apostolic Orthodox Church of Estonia (Constantinople Patriarchate).
The nuns of Lintula Holy Trinity Convent, and a large number of clergy and laity attended the celebration. After the Gospel reading and the Archbishop’s homily, Archdeacon Viktor read the synaxis of the saint. After the Divine Liturgy, took place the procession of the icon of St. John on the premises of the monastery. This is the place where the saint lived in asceticism, and where he became the spiritual father of many Orthodox, both from Finland and from abroad.
His letters were published in Russian while he was still alive. They are known in many countries.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Father Mattias Palli, representing the Apostolic Orthodox Church of Estonia, congratulated the Church of Finland on behalf of the Metropolitan Stephanos of Tallinn and all Estonia (Ecumenical Patriarchate). The former offered an icon of all the Neomartyrs of Estonia to the monastery.
In the afternoon, Metropolitan Panteleimon prayed the Akathist to Saint John in the monastery church dedicated to all the holy ascetics.
The memory of the saint is celebrated on August 5.
