The Patriarchate of Alexandria, the Library of Alexandria, and the A.G. Leventis Foundation of Cyprus, are working together to renovate a series of unique manuscripts pertaining to the history of the Patriarchate.
The huge Patriarchal Library contains over 40,000 books, 3,000 incunabula, and 530 unique manuscripts. One hundred of them are in the process of being restored thanks to this cooperation. Sixty-eight are already done, and the whole work should be finished by the end of 2020.
Then the 100 restored manuscripts will be published in a volume, through the Library of Alexandria. The project is funded by the G.A. Leventis Foundation.
The oldest of these manuscripts are from 1796, when the first official list of the manuscripts present in the Patriarchal Library was made.
Besides, the Patriarchate of Alexandria is in the process of preparing a Center of Hellenism in the Center of Arts, on Fouad Street in Alexandria.
